THE BOTTLED WATER COOLER:
A traditional bottled water cooler has an open hole in the top. So, airborne bacteria, dust, algae spore and germs can get into the water inside of the cooler. In addition, when you change a bottle, you grab it by the "neck". Whatever Is on the hands of “The Bottle Changer” may now be in the water cooler reservoir.

These impurities grow and multiply inside of the open reservoir. Over time, there is “slimy” substance called "biofilm" that can form on the walls of a bottled water cooler’s reservoir .

Bottled water companies are very knowledgeable of this problem - but CHOOSE to put their head in the sand about it. They do not inform their customers nor do they clean the cooler for you.

This was studied in Europe and their trade association by-laws mandate that all bottled water coolers must be cleaned every three months!! When was the last time your bottled water cooler was cleaned?

Tufts University studied the bacteria counts in bottled water coolers. They published their findings in their Diet & Nutrition Letter (Vol.10, No. 6). They stated, "... many coolers may be harboring unhealthful high levels of bacteria that can cause nausea and diarrhea in some people." The report further states, " that in each case the count reached at least 2,000 potentially harmful organisms for every thousandth of a liter of water, or four times the 500-organism limit the government recommends. In some coolers, particularly those that were used frequently, counts exceeded one million - or 2,000 times the government's recommended ceiling. Organisms from each new bottle of water adhere to a cooler's reservoir - the "well" in which the bottle sits."

There are many other studies like this from around the world. Check out our bottled water in the news page for more information
